proof reading not necessary. It's all good. Some of us appreciate good writing and good thoughts, even if it's rushed or bad spelling. That's what it's like when you have kids and you're on substack.
What solutions -- if any -- are there for dealing with an authoritarian/illiberal GOP? My impression is that a lot of the centrist/Dem indulging this delusion are doing so to avoid absolute hopelessness. Other than internal changes within the GOP, what are the possible solutions to this illiberal problem?
My pessimistic take (especially after reading "How Democracies Die") is that in my lifetime we'll have competitive (if not outright) authoritarianism under the GOP or related civil conflict. The only possible alternative seems to be major democratic reforms that push the US to a multiparty system (e.g. expanding the House and enacting large multi-representative districts). But that possibility seems practically all but impossible.
But I'm definitely curious to hear your thoughts on better/more effective ways to deal with the creeping homegrown fascism.
Excellent question! I really don't see an easy path out except pushing to reform American democracy so a minority party can't dominate and has an incentive to moderate. But doing that is very, very hard and the Democrats aren't united enough to make the reforms needed, so far.
Have one but have to solve a few logistic problems (some boring issues involving my kids staying at home and the time I do my writing). Should improve radically in the coming weeks!

Jeet, get a proofreader. Thanks.
