Just rewatched the first few minutes last night (messengers to Duncan scene, then Macbeth & Banquo meet the witches), and now I want 90 minutes of just the witches monologuing.
With regards to the troupe of character actors, all of them put in good work in the Coens' films but they're perhaps best known for other roles:
Ralph Ineson might best be known as the voice of the titular character in 2021's The Green Knight, or as a New England settler in The Witch. Stephen Root will always best be remembered as Milton in Office Space, a movie beloved by socialists and capitalists alike. He is also great in Get Out. Harry Melling is better known for playing Dudley Dursley in Harry Potter and for his work on The Queen's Gambit netflix series.
Yes, they often have bigger roles elsewhere and it's part of the "troupe-ness" that actors of this caliber make up the secondary cast. I mean every character is so alive.
